CARLTON HOUSE
For this Project I worked on the floor plan for a space in the Iconic Carlton house located in New York. The objective of this project was to show different plans to give to a contractor/designer to show specifics, such as where electrical would go, the finish of the floors etc. I chose to showcase this on my website portfolio to show that interior design isn't only about the glitz and the glam, there are more technical aspects to a home than customers see or realize.
In this first plan, you can see any ceiling details and overall dimensions of this space
In this plan, I have located any electrical such as the location of lighting and switches, This plan also shows the wiring locations and how all the lights are connected.
This floor plan is showcasing the finish of the floor throughout the space. Overall the main material used was hardwood light oak flooring, with rose quartz tile finish in the washrooms.
This furniture plan isn't detailed but gives an overall layout of where the key furniture pieces will be in each zone of the space.
Here you can see the sections I have developed for the kitchen. These are the elevations of what the proposed kitchen space was to look like. The dotted arrows indicate door opening directions for the cabinets and appliances. Here you can also see the key finishes found in the kitchen.
This focuses on the kitchen island. Here you can see the overall dimensions and finishes as well as the location of cabinetry and dishwasher.
This final image is a section of the counter top and bottom cabinetry below. You can see the thicknesses and dimensions of each material and that this bottom cabinetry will have drawers.
This project is very technical and may not be as exciting to look at but I hope it gave you a better idea as to how spaces are designed and a little more insight to our thought and design process. The information in this project is all needed to make a space come together!
